NEWCASTLE GIGS ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT 15NOV19

This weekends cover pic in tribute to the Dandy Warhols who appeared at Scene and Heard last Sunday at Wickham Park.  Plagued with sound issues on the day, still not to be dampened - theres always the Tshirt and play their music at home till the midnight hour..... when it sounds best.

Friday Night: Cardiff Spares at Stag & Hunter
Saturday Festivals on at Stag & Hunter and Jewells Tavern.

Rob Thomas at Bimbadgen; Steve Balbi at Lizottes and Mal Eastick at the Wicko.
Sunday Fish Fry, Hornet and Shtick Men see the guide below
Also, a handful of Gallery openings this weekend and the Real Film Festival.

The Cardiff Spares is the creation of Newcastle multi-instrumentalist Robbie Long. Robbie has covered miles of styles in his weird & wonderful career. He has been a side-man to all manner of diverse acts including Aussie King of Vaudeville Mic Conway, 2012 Toyota Starmaker Winner Bob Corbett, Honky Tonk queen Wanita, swing/bluegrass fiddler Gleny Rae Virus and a host of local favorites including Mark Wells, Greg Bryce (DV8), Justin Ngariki and the Dastardly Bastards.
Robbie has hand picked a group of local A-class players [(Jason Tyler (keys), Jono Burgess (bass), Ben Elliot (drums) and Grace Finlayson (vocals)] to join him in a new musical adventure that showcases his blue and roots electric guitar and lapsteel styles, interpreting material from the likes of John Mayer, Jeff Beck, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Bonnie Raitt. The music is groove-based, highly improvised and dynamic.

'Air Fire Water Earth'

An exciting exhibition of ceramics, textiles and paintings

Gail Steel Janet Steel Tara Mann Julie Batts

November 15 – December 1
Official Opening Fri November 15,  6 pm - 8pm
Four artists, Gail Steele, Janet Steele, Tara Mann and Julie Batts have used the four classic elements of nature as the theme for the exhibition, Air Fire Water Earth.

Air is the breath of life, gentle like a breeze in a clear sky, carefree and light or powerful and fast, impossible to see except for the movement of the clouds across the sky.Fire, light from the Sun, warmth from a flame, either gentle and cosy or boisterous like a volcano or as strong as a dragon's breath turning clay into stone. Water in all its forms, is precious and pure, nourishing the earth and its creatures, yet powerful enough to shape the rocks and destroy the flora. Earth provides the fruit to nourish and sustain. It provides the habitat for all of earth's creatures.
