Blues/ Roots – Chase The Sun is one Australian band with its roots in the blues scene who are letting their love of rock and roll fully hang out, infusing their take on the blues with loud guitar, blazing hard funk and a cranking 70’s southern rock feel. Ten years ago Chase The Sun burst onto the Australian blues and roots scene with a passion and fire little heard since the early seventies. They released two critically acclaimed albums that, at one time, were charting together at #1 and #2 respectively on the iTunes blues charts.
The trio then promptly went into semi-retirement for four years (popping their head up for the occasional hometown show and festival appearance). The pressures of life on the road didn’t appeal to everyone in the band, and an act many thought poised for greatness went into creative hiatus.Chase The Sun features Jan Rynsaardt, one of the best guitarists and most passionate performers around, but you’d never hear it from him. With a genuine modesty unsurpassed in the blustery blues-rock scene, Rynsaardt is all about getting on with it, and the killer guitar solo on ‘Live It Up’ sees him back at his blazing best.
The new single, and album to follow, should go some of the way to satisfying the band’s army of loyal supporters who’ve been waiting a long time for some new music, while also likely to earn the band some new fans along the way.
