Howdy from Magpie here! Aboard Gazza the Dashville tour bus, currently driving through a sunny Abis, somewhere between Coober Pedy and Port Augusta, South Australia.
It’s been a fairly eventful two weeks for Magpie Diaries, we've been flapping about this big brown country on the final shows of the Sanctuary album tour. It's been a fun fleeting time! Last weekend we were in Darwin and since then, we've travelled the extent of the Stuart Highway, through Alice Springs for tonight’s show in Adelaide at The Wheatsheaf Hotel. Saturday (20th July) we head to Victoria to play The Gem Bar in Collingwood, Sunday 21st at the Union in Brunswick (from 1pm), before embarking on the final gallant journey back to Dashville for The Bluebird Sings event next Saturday.
Magpie Diaries would be ever so grateful for your support towards our efforts, by coming along or shooting the tip to someone down Adelaide/Melbourne way.
Thanks and catch you soon!
P.s Check out the video we just posted. Cooked-up special whilst we were in Darwin, it's pretty fabulous.

Next Saturday 27th July, kicking off at 2pm, we’re hosting a special fundraiser event at Dashville to celebrate the power of our music community, and to contribute funds towards Support Act. A charity which supports people in the music industry dealing with crisis.
There's already a bunch of singers/songwriters pledging support, coming along to perform a few songs. We invite and welcome all singers and songwriters compelled to perform a few songs in the relaxed intimate setting of the Tractor Shed to jump on board.
There’s also a notion that we can help reduce the pain from missing out on that succulent pork that PigSty In July would have supplied, so a roast dinner is included in your ticket.
It's $45 per person, for which includes entry, camping, roast dinner and an initial $10 donation to the cause. With other fundraising on the night, we aim to raise a humble $1000, but perhaps if more people come along, we can make that figure $10,000!
Campground will be open from midday. Kick off around 2pm. It's a fully licensed event, located in and around the Tractor Shed and Bird Bath space.
U18 are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
Dashville is pleased to announce we are working alongside the incredible Ben Salter.
Never one to knowingly sit still for more than 90 seconds, newly Tasmanian-based post-colonial epic-folk perpetrator, founding member of Giants of Science, The Gin Club, The Wilson Pickers, Hownowmer, The Young Liberals & Anigizanthos and possibly Australia’s most under-rated songwriter and performer Ben Salter, is setting off on another run of performances, this time called the “It Became A Thing” tour. It will take place in July, August and September 2019 at locations in Victoria, New South Wales, the ACT and Tasmania. All shows are supported by Coda Chroma.
Dashville is fortunate to present the tour, with the final show of this exciting run of dates, to be held August 31st at Dashville. The show will feature an intimate Q&A by close friend and compère Ben Quinn.
Grab your tickets for this final show at Dashville, knowing that we're planning on making a weekend of it. Given that Father's Day falls on Sunday September 1st, the same day winter ends, we will have a further treat in store the following day, with a special event known as Daddy’s Little Hawaiian Breakfast. The High Andies will serenade a delectable breakfast of the finest order. Stay tuned, we've got something special brewing.
Dashville Skyline to announce full line up next week!
The supreme Hunter Valley "Cosmic Country Weekender" is about to announce its full line up. Stay tuned as we reveal who's coming to join us at the 5th annual event.
The fifth instalment of Dashville Skyline returns to Dashville from Friday, October 4 to Sunday, October 6 2019 (NSW’s Labour Day Long weekend). A celebration of alternative country music and the surrounding roots culture in its varied forms, the festival gives music lovers the option to purchase single day tickets, or full event three-day passes.
The ultra-chilled countrified camping festival will host over 40 live performances, mouth-watering American-inspired food and bevvies, boutique market stalls, an animal petting zoo and much, much more.
Held at the same location as The Gum Ball, Dashville Skyline is a popular alternative to its predecessor, providing an amazing experience for alt-country music lovers and those who like to partake in an ultimate weekend escape, full of laid-back music and family fun.
This year excitement ensues as we welcome our special guest to the stage, the legendary Archie Roach.

ABOUT DASHVILLE SKYLINE The festival’s name derives from that of Bob Dylan’s 1968 release Nashville Skyline, which lends an impression of the vibe of this festival. It’s a celebration of alternative country, its birth in America during the ‘60s-‘70s, the culture that surrounds the music and the evolution that continues to inspire modern-day songwriters.
One of the main spectacles of the festival is the immensely popular Sunset Super Round. On Saturday at nightfall, artists on the bill merge around the main stage in spontaneous collaboration, to pay homage to their favourite songs of the “golden era”.
Tickets for Dashville Skyline 2019 are on sale now at the Dashville Store.
