Bluesfest latest news
Neil Finn, Vintage Trouble, Nic Cester, Playing for Change, Ellis Hall and Vasti Jackson, Remi, Wilson Pickers, Round Mountain Girls, Australian Ukulele Show and Ivy are the latest additions to the BluesFest lineup.
Newcastle Comedy Club
The lineup includes headliner Tommy Dean with support from Brett Nichols & Cam James. It will be a fantastic night with canapes and main included. Doors open 6:00pm with canapes served shortly after. Bookings are essential, seating is limited, tickets are $59 and can be obtained by phoning the brewhouse on (02) 4929 4721 or online through Ticketbooth.
If you have never seen Tommy Dean you are genuinely missing out on a master of the language – comedy. Known as the “good will hunting” of comedy, he seems to see life as an enormous equation in front of him and solves it in an instant – with a mind bending laugh.
Brett Nichols is a well seasoned highly versatile comic and his ad-libbing excellence sees him transform every show into an event to remember. His mix of the ‘clever’ and the ‘rude’ will appeal to the yuppie and yobbo in everyone.
Cameron James is confessional, absurdist, casually irreverent and boundary pushing style reminds you of the troublemaker who was forced to join the school debate team. Which is exactly what he was.
Tix $59 per person including canapes and main.

Legendary performers Steve Clisby and Stephen Ferris are set to make being 40+ the new sexy with the launch of 40UP, a sizzling new 70s, 80s and 90s dance party concept exclusively for 40-somethings.

DAVE GRANEY N' THE CORAL SNAKES
Dave Graney n' the Coral Snakes were THE stand alone act in Australia during the 90s. Nobody stood near them. They cut through with wit, flash and weirdness and flew their freak flag for four albums while Dave Graney used street slang and literate word bombs to fully state his case. Due to popular demand the band bring it all back to Sydney for one night only.

MUD MORGANFIELD (US)
In 1954, the eldest son of Blues great Muddy Waters (McKinley Morganfield) was born. Mud Morganfield grew up surrounded by music, particularly the Blues, and played music all of his life; starting with the drums his dad gave him as a child, then moving on to the bass guitar.
Possessing a baritone voice very much like his father's, and blessed with similar vocal phrasing and a sense of how to command a stage, Morganfield has became a popular draw on the Blues club and festival circuit; mixing both original songs and Muddy Waters classics into his live sets.

The Living End Bring Tour to Newcastle
Aussie legends, The Living End are headed to The Cambridge Hotel on Friday, March 10 2017 as part of their Staring Down The Highway Tour.
Having released their ARIA # 5 album Shift in May; levelling their sold out major city national Shift tour; performing on the at the 2016 AFL Grand Final; headlining festivals around the country; and scoring nominations for Best Rock Album and Best Australian Live Act at this year’s ARIA Awards – so far it has been a year in which the kings of Australian rock reclaimed their throne after a five-year hiatus after their 2011 ARIA-Award winning album, The Ending Is Just The Beginning Repeating.
There is no rest in sight, the band are set to roll on into 2017 hitting regional areas of Australia for their Staring Down The Highway Tour, starting in March. These regional shows will see the band play a series of mediums-sized venues and clubs, allowing fans the chance to see them play some of their most intimate shows in years.
They will be supported by Australia’s premier Psychedelic Reggae Ska Doom Metal Punk Rock band From Hell and triple j faves The Bennies, who will bring a whole-new brand of punk rock energy and exuberance to the stage, sure to wow TLE fans with their high-flying antics. Having previously supported punk heavyweights like NOFX AND Rancid, they’re no strangers to playing with punk rock royalty, and they’re set to claim another picture card when they head out with The Living End in March.
To coincide with the tour announce, the band have also released the brand-new video for their latest single ‘Staring Down The Barrel.’
Jimmy Barnes brings ‘Stories & Songs’ to Newcastle
After setting a record with his fifteenth number 1, Jimmy Barnes brings The Working Class Boy: An Evening of Stories & Songs tour to Newcastle’s Civic Theatre in March.
The Working Class Boy audiobook was written and read by Jimmy Barnes and recorded at his home studio and is only available as a digital download from his website (ie: not from any other online stores) here. Click here to listen to a sample.
Since its release, the hard cover version of Working Class Boy has struck a profound chord with both critics and the Australian public. It spent seven weeks at #1 on the national Bookscan charts ending the 10-week reign of mega-authors JK Rowling and Andy Griffiths and was the No. 1 adult title in 2016.
The next shows on the Working Class Boy: An Evening of Stories & Songs tour take Jimmy back to Tasmania for two sold out shows in Launceston as well as a Hobart date which is also close to selling out. From there Jimmy heads across the ditch for 10 shows in New Zealand
