New News
Important Info from Gleny Rae
Sorry about the late notice, but things have been hectic to say the least!
THIS THURSDAY 10th Nov, my very dear friends and musician par excellence Pete Fidler is venturing up from Melbourne to play songs from his new album BUzz in the Room. Dougie BUll and I will provide some musical support; we might even do a couple of my tunes too.... It's going to be great fun, and I implore you to come along and support ME as much as Pete. I have flown him up to play a couple of local gigs with me (not in Newcastle but in my new surrounds near Coolongolook) so it's really important that we can support his journey and commitment to music.
SO this is ALL you need to know.
1.       Pete Fidler CD launch Show Thursday 10th Nov
Sunset Studio at 1 Maitland Rd Mayfield behind Peppertown Cafe (which incidentally has new owners, the Wayward Henrys!)
It's on the corner of Selwyn St next to the train line. DO NOT trust your GPS.
Doors open 7pm, show starts at 7.30pm. $15 at the door. BYO drinks and vessels, pizza and pasta available too.
Pete Fidler is one of the most sought after side musicians in the Australian roots, folk and bluegrass scene. Pete has toured internationally with Bill Jackson, appeared at countless festivals with the likes of Nick Charles, Bluestone Junction, Waz E James, Cyndi Boste to name a few. Pete is launching his 2nd solo CD and will perform with his friends and musical compadres Gleny Rae and Dougie Bull.
2.       Aine Tyrrell Duo Sat 12th Nov 8pm
Sunset Studio $15
Aine is an incredible performer with celtic roots and a heart full of desire to sing. Her songs are full of hope and promise, but the music whispers of past struggles of forgotten generations. Aine plays guitar and stomps and uses pedals to express her art, and is also an adept tin whistle player. She will be joined by her musical partner Nick Martin on uilleann pipes.

The Olive Tree Market
Dates for Olive Tree Market
Nov 19th 2016         9am - 3pm
Dec 3rd 2016            9am - 3pm
Dec 17th 2016          9am - 3pm
The Olive Tree Market is constantly growing and evolving with talented creatives joining the market each month. Discover our emerging artists section, take home amazing gourmet artisan produce and sit back and take in the sounds of talented local musicians! See you under the Olive Tree.
One of Newcastle’s original artisan markets is preparing to spread its branches a little wider in the lead-up to Christmas. The monthly Olive Tree Market will double its dates during November and December, giving shoppers twice as many opportunities to find the perfect stocking filler or gorgeous handcrafted gift for friends, family or work colleagues this festive season.
Organiser and co-founder Justine Gaudry said that with more than 160 stallholders expected to show off their wares in Newcastle’s Civic Park on the first and third Saturdays of November and December, the market’s “Summer Christmas Series” is an event not to be missed.
“We have lots of great new artists coming for these four market dates,” she said.
“We will have over 160 of the region’s most talented artists, designers and food producers all in the one location, with thousands of distinctive, exclusive handmade goods for sale. Each market will feature the work of different artists and designers over this period, so no two markets will be the same.
“For those who place a value on ethical production, quality, unique and handmade goods, these are markets not to miss!
Hunt & Gather Markets
Boutique Designer Markets
Pacific Park Newcastle East | 3rd Saturday of the Month | 9am - 2pm
We love to shop. We love the thrill of the hunt. We love discovering new things. We love meeting new people. We love live music. We love design. We love local. We love meeting the talent behind the creation. We love really good food. We love the sun, the beach and laying in the shade of big ol' trees...
And so with an obsession for hunting and gathering at markets over the world, and a passion for good design, we set off to create a market with high standards in quality, that creates a network of support, and that has a relaxed vibe and local feel.
Newcastle East is bursting with creative talent and Pacific Park has given Hunt&Gather a beautiful home under big old fig trees, nestled between the natural beauty of Newcastle Beach and the richness and diversity of Hunter street.
Hunt&Gather is a way to bring all of the things we love together, to add value to our community, and give the good folk of Newcastle a feelgood place to come together!
Hunt&Gather is a monthly event that showcases the work of designers, artists, musicians, collectors and food lovers from Newcastle and beyond. Established in November 2013 as a boutique marketplace to bring like minded people together, and to give Newcastle a much needed regular community event.
In a city so full of creative and youthful individuals, Hunt&Gather provides a regular event carefully curated and edited for these innovative people. A marketplace to set up shop, and to spend the day in good company with great music, good food, in a supportive, fun and friendly atmosphere.

Nude: art from the Tate collection – coming in Novermber
It is one of art’s oldest subjects – and often its most controversial.
Over 100 major representations of the nude across multiple artforms. At the heart of the show lies the world’s most famous image of erotic love, Auguste Rodin’s sculpture The kiss.
In a partnership between Tate, London and the Art Gallery of NSW in Sydney, Nude: art from the Tate collection will present over 100 major representations of the nude, including paintings, sculptures, photographs and prints by renowned artists such as Pablo Picasso, Lucian Freud, Henri Matisse, Louise Bourgeois, Marlene Dumas and Sarah Lucas.
At the heart of the show lies the world’s most famous image of erotic love, Auguste Rodin’s sculpture The kiss 1901-04. Never before has this work from Tate’s collection left Europe. Other notable works include Pierre Bonnard’s The bath 1925, Picasso’sNude woman in a red armchair 1932, Sylvia Sleigh’s Paul Rosano reclining 1974, Ron Mueck’s Wild man 2005 and Rineke Dijkstra’s Julie, Den Haag, Netherlands, February 29 1994.
Each artist in the exhibition offers a different way of looking at the naked human body. Some look tenderly; some idealise it; some look anxiously or politically. Together they show how the nude in art has persisted yet changed, shifting shape and acquiring new meanings in the hands of successive generations, from the idealising painters of the Victorian era to the artist-provocateurs of our time.
Nude: art from the Tate collection is a spectacular tour through many major art movements, including romanticism, cubism, expressionism, realism, surrealism and feminism. It is also a story of beauty, truth, desire, vulnerability and human drama.
The presentation of this exhibition is a collaboration between Tate and the Art Gallery ofNSW, and part of the 2016-17 Sydney International Art Series.

JOHN OLSEN: The City's Son
5 November 2016 - 19 February 2017 | Newcastle Art Gallery
Although he is a celebrated master painter and an acknowledged Australian living treasure, John Olsen OBE, AO still describes himself as a 'Newcastle boy.' Born in Newcastle in 1928, Olsen returns home in November to open an exhibition at Newcastle Art Gallery that he says captures the essence of his birthplace. As part of the exhibition, he will also introduce a major new painting created specifically for our city and region. Image: John Olsen OBE, AO in front of Life Burst 1964 at Newcastle Art Gallery, 2016 Image courtesy Newcastle Art Gallery.
JOHN OLSEN: The City’s Son features works personally chosen by the artist that reflect his affection for Newcastle and the Hunter region’s waterways; the beaches, harbour, lake, river and wetlands. The exhibition will showcase more than 35 works of art from the Gallery’s own Olsen collection including ceramics, prints and paintings spanning 1954 -1992 in addition to selected works on loan from private collections around the world. This is the first time that all of the Gallery's Olsen works will be on display together.
In April, Olsen made a helicopter flight over the Hunter region to gain inspiration for the new painting and to "get up in the air to see the marvellous Hunter River with its branches and tendrils feeding the landscape."
Olsen has said that identity and a sense of place are equally important in his art and that he sees Newcastle's ‘sense of place’ as firmly tied to its connection to the Hunter River. He says the new painting reflects the uniqueness of his birthplace and its natural beauty, with the sun burning bright and the river a deep, vibrant blue with its sense of flow and motion.
"Newcastle is undergoing a rebirth, and I want Novocastrians to see themselves differently. I want everyone in the Hunter to see in this painting what they already feel and think about the place where they live," he said.
The completed new work of art will be unveiled at the launch event for the exhibition on Friday 4 November and will be on display at the Gallery throughout the exhibition. The Gallery, Newcastle Art Gallery Foundation and the Art Gallery Society are collaborating to acquire the new painting to keep it permanently in Newcastle.
"The rightful home for what we know will be an iconic work is Newcastle Art Gallery - for future Novocastrians and Australians to view and appreciate the jewel that is the Hunter region," said Newcastle Art Gallery Manager Lauretta Morton.
"The community can be a part of this exciting opportunity by making a donation that will help us to keep the painting permanently in our Gallery."
For more information about making a donation or purchasing a raffle ticket for a chance to win a framed handsigned limited edition fine art reproduction by John Olsen, visit the Gallery's website at www.nag.org.au

RACHEL COLLIS TRIO – THE REMAINS OF THE DAY
Saturday 19 November @ 7:30 pm
| $15 - $20
Highly acclaimed songstress Rachel Collis is a “welcome jolt back to the time of Jim Webb, Carole King and Joni Mitchell” (The Orange Press). Hailed by reviewers as “genius”, “prodigy” and “the great underground talent of her time”, Rachel is sweetness, sophistication and good old-fashioned songwriting – with just a dash of funny in the mix! From the heart-swelling to the introspective to the humourous – Rachel’s songs are always intelligent, always finely-crafted, always heartfelt.
On November 19, Rachel and her trio – comprising 2 of Sydney’s finest jazz musicians, Aria award winning Michael Galeazzi on bass (Karma County, The Java Quartet) and Mike Quigley on drums (The Java Quartet, Palaces) – will present the songs from her brand new album, The Remains Of The Day. As a live performer Rachel is known for generating a mood that possesses the entire building. Whether bringing an audience to laughter, or to tears, the spell never really changes – it’s deep, tender, and bursting with energy.
In 2012 she burst onto the music scene with back-to-back sell-out performances at the prestigious Riverside Theatres of her one-woman show “The Art Of Letting Go.” Her second album “Nightlight”, co-produced with Thirsty Merc’s Sean Carey, has met with international success, growing Rachel an underground following of highly dedicated fans in the UK, the US and Canada, and has been described as “nothing short of exquisite; compositionally and performatively” (Syke On Stage). Her newest album, “The Remains Of The Day” (released November 1 2017) promises no less!
Rachel has performed at the Sydney and Adelaide Fringe Festivals, and to sell-out audiences at the prestigious Riverside Theatres in Sydney. She performs regularly at music and folk venues in Sydney and beyond including, Foundry 616, Camelot Lounge, Humph Hall, Eastern Lounge, The Shack and The Acoustic Picnic.

Bruce Mathiske, described by The Sydney Morning Herald as “The Authentic Guitar Virtuoso”, grew up on a wheat farm in the Mallee of Victoria and has paved a very successful career as predominately a solo virtuoso guitarist and composer.
Bruce’s dexterity on the guitar is recognised around the world. Following Mathiske’s perfoamnce at the Edinburgh Festival, journalist Adrian Morgan wrote: “This virtuoso, is one of Australia’s musical superstars, the notes explode from both hands leaving you to wonder if there is another Mathiske in the wings. By the time he had added the didgeeridoo and wowed us with outrageous harmonics from far flung corners of his guitar, we were all his.”
His three decades of performing, recording eighteen solo albums and touring, has led to sell out concerts and worldwide acclaim.
His compositions of suites for guitar and orchestra are the culmination of a lifetime of absorbing music and sounds. In mid 2013 Mathiske entered his “retreat” and began composing a series of four Suites for guitar and orchestra. Twelve months later, he has just finished recording with The Metropolitan Orchestra at Trackdown in Fox Studios, Sydney Australia.

All their Greatest Hits Live in Concert. Wild Thing, With a Girl Like You, I Can’t Control Myself, Love is All Around plus more!
"I've been to many '60s bands' concerts, but I found The Troggs to be the most entertaining and energetic band of all." (Oldies Music Blog)
"Wild thing, you make my heart sing!"... 60's British Rock Legends THE TROGGS finally return to Australia this November to celebrate the Wild Thing's 50th Anniversary by performing all their Greatest Hits - Wild Thing, With a Girl Like You, I Can't Control Myself, Love is All Around plus More!
Teenage lust never sounded so good!" (Ultimate Classic Rock)
THE TROGGS are widely known to have inspired the age of garage and punk rock including The Ramones, Iggy Pop and The Buzzcocks.
THE TROGGS first entered the Australian charts in 1966 with "Wild Thing" going all the way to #1 knocking Frank Sinatra off the top spot! Their follow-up single "With A Girl Like You" was also a top 10 smash going to #8. Their Aussie chart suscess continued with their third single "I Cant Control Myself" (later covered by our own James Baker) reaching #13 and solidifying their place as one of the most successful British bands to come from the wave of 60's bands. They hit the charts again with "Love is all Around" which was covered by Wet Wet Wet in 1994 and spent 6 weeks at #1 in Australia (15! Weeks at #1 in the UK)... Reg Presley famously spent some of his songwriting royalties on crop circle research. THE TROGGS toured the world to sell-out audiences and were everyone's favourite Brit-rock band.
"Beat merchants turning three chords into pure gold" (Ultimate Classic Rock)
A live performance by The Troggs gig is "totally professional, they know exactly how to get the audience going." (Essentially Pop) Fans around the world are treated to the sheer energy and determination the band still possesses in order to win over any crowd. Their songbook of hits is simply meant to be enjoyed in this environment. The Troggs legend status will be confirmed when the room begins to shake and bodies start moving to all the hits you know and love from the last 50 years.
This will be an evening packed full of your favourite hit by THE TROGGS. Expect to be taken back to your teenage years in what could be your last chance to see one of the world's most legendary rock bands live. And we guarantee you, everything will most certainly be groovy.... Come and get wild with The Troggs!

The Monkees 50th Anniversary show is a unique concert experience. Times may change but infectious pop hits and wonderfully charismatic characters stay in our hearts and memories forever.
On September 8, 1965, when producers Bob Rafelson and Bert Schneider placed a classified ad in The Hollywood Reporter seeking “4 insane boys,” they had no idea that they were about to unleash Monkee-mania! But that’s exactly what happened the following year when the first episode of “The Monkees” debuted on NBC on September 12, 1966.
50 years later and The Monkees anniversary show is coming to Australia and New Zealand. After sell-out North American shows, and with a brand new album “Good Times!” in the charts, Micky and Peter are bringing the Monkees magic downunder.

Show Starts: 8.30PM
Doors Open: 7.45PM
The original lineup of the Ted Mulry Gang will play their first Newcastle show in 20 years.
Les Hall, Gary Dixon and Herm Kovac will take to the stage together for the first time in 25 years with Ted Mulry’s younger brother Steve on vocals and original AC/DC member, Mark Evans on bass.
With the passing of Ted Mulry in 2001 it is only fitting that his younger brother Steve fill his shoes. Steve sang 2 songs with the band at the Gimme Ted Benefit in 2001 and got the thumbs up from big brother.
Drummer Herm Kovac announced, “The band is excited to do some shows and we feel Steve and Mark are the perfect fit. Newcastle has always been one of our favourite cities with Les and I having lived there for some time. Our roadie Ron still lives in Belmont so he can walk to the gig”.
About Ted Mulry Gang
The band had a string of hits in the seventies with Jump In My Car hitting the number one spot forty years ago after being discovered as an album track by a Newcastle DJ.
Other hits like Darktown Strutters Ball, Crazy, My Little Girl, Jamaica Rum, Heart of Stone and many others will feature in what promises to be a an unforgettable night of Rock and Roll. The band also pays tribute to Ted by performing Julia and Falling In Love Again, which were hits for Ted as a solo artist prior to TMG.

Chart-topping multiplatinum reggae-pop outfit UB40 today reveal national Australian tour dates for January 2017. With the band’s beloved original front-man ALI CAMPBELL at the helm, together with founding members ASTRO and MICKEY VIRTU
Returning to our shores off the back of lauded performances at this year’s Byron Bay Bluesfest, Ali Campbell’s UB40 will hit the stage in 2017 for all-ages appearances beginning at Perth’s Fremantle Arts Centre on Tuesday 10th January, followed by Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on Thursday 12th January, Melbourne’s Hamer Hall on Friday 13th January and wrapping up at the picturesque Sandstone Point at Bribie Island on Sunday 15th January.
Responsible for countless iconic global hits including ‘Red Red Wine’, ‘(I Can’t Help) Falling In Love With You’, ‘Here I Am (Come And Take Me)’, ‘I Got You Babe’ recorded with Chrissie Hynde of The Pretenders and many more, UB40 are one of the most prolific and influential acts to emerge from Britain in the late-70’s. With Ali Campbell’s legendary voice at the fore, the band has notched up multiple Grammy Award nominations for Best Reggae Album, has sold over 70 million records worldwide and played at some of the world’s premiere music venues including London’s O2 Arena, the Manchester Apollo and Dublin’s 3Arena.
Since reuniting three years ago, original UB40 founding members Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue have developed into a formidable touring outfit. Their world tours have included visits to North and South America, Nigeria, South Africa, Dubai, Europe and Papua New Guinea. Currently in the midst of a sell-out North America and Canada tour, UB40 will land in Australia to deliver their distinctive rootsy musical mélange to audiences around the country.
In 2014, UB40 featuring Ali Campbell, Astro & Mickey Virtue released a critically acclaimed Top 10 album, ‘Silhouette’, showcasing the outfit’s unique brand of reggae-pop across thirteen tracks including single ‘I Want You’. The band has plans to release a new studio album later this year.
“Ali’s voice is as flawlessly soothing live as it is on record… UB40 may be 38 years old but like the red, red wine they extol the virtues of, they’ve matured to perfection.” – MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS, April 2016
“Campbell’s voice sounded terrific as the band sent the audience home with a one-two of their most popular covers, Many Rivers to Cross and Can’t Help Falling in Love. Judging by the crowd’s reaction, the band’s first appearance at Bluesfest won’t be their last.” – SYDNEY MORNING HERALD, Bluesfest 2016
“With the return of Ali Campbell to the vocal duties, expectations were high for this return of UB40 to Australia’s shores. He showed that not only has he not lost any of his singing ability, he can hold a crowd in the palm of his hand. The full band were all class for classic cut Can’t Help Falling in Love and Al Green cover Here I Am (Come and Take Me). An excellent example of an old band returning and sounding just like they used to. They finished with Red, Red Wine, which would stay in our heads for the rest of the night.” – THEMUSIC, Bluesfest 2016

The late, great Hungarian-born bandleader, composer and visionary Jackie Orszaczky was a beloved staple on the Sydney music scene for more than three decades. He held free Tuesday night residencies at iconic inner-city venues, where young musos could go to learn from one of the most respected figures in the game. He arranged innovative horn and string sections for some of the country’s biggest bands, including collaborations with Marcia Hines, Billy Thorpe, Hoodoo Gurus, You Am I and Savage Garden.
Jackie died of lymphoma in 2008, but his energy, passion, and dazzlingly inventive arrangements live on in multiple groups, including the 12-piece Orszaczky Budget Orchestra. Fronted by Tina Harrod and vocalist Darren Percival, the ensemble showcases a big band which features many of the musicians that collaborated with Jackie over the years and was specially formed to showcase a vibrant horn section. A throwback tribute party full of Jackie’s soul-funk tunes and his arrangements of classics, truly worthy of both his memory and most of the leather on your dancing shoes.
Note: The Meriton Festival Village is a licensed venue. Under 18s must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Friday 27 January – PETER GARRETT AND THE ALTER EGOS and KEV CARMODY
The enigmatic Peter Garrett is bringing his band The Alter Egos to the iconic Taronga Zoo to cut the ribbon on the Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ 2017 Summer Concert Series, with a rare coheadline performance with Kev Carmody.
As the fearless frontman who led Midnight Oil through a career spanning 30 years and 12 Top 10 albums, Peter Garrett’s all-star band features Midnight Oil’s Martin Rotsey on guitar, Peter Luscombe (RocKwiz, Paul Kelly) on drums, and Mark Wilson from Jet on bass, and Rosa Morgan (Red Ghost) on keyboards. Together they will perform songs from Peter Garrett’s recently released solo album A Version of Now , which was penned as he looked back on a remarkable journey though music, activism, politics and family for his 2015 memoir, Big Blue Sky.  On its release, the Top 3 charting collection was warmly received by critics and fans alike, with many publications, including Rolling Stone and The Australian, awarding it four star reviews.
Joining Peter Garrett for his performance under the stars is one of Australia’s pre-eminent singer-songwriters, storytellers and ARIA Hall of Fame inductee, Kev Carmody. Born of Aboriginal and Irish heritage, Kev Carmody’s songbook has been collected over forty years; politically charged and driven by the history of his peoples’ struggles and set on the land he loves. Join these two iconic singers for a night of soulful performances set against the stunning backdrop of Sydney Harbour as we welcome Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ for another year.

Saturday 28 January – JO JO ZEP & THE FALCONS and THE SPORTS
Two legendary Australian rock outfits from the 70s and 80s come together for a co-headline show during the opening weekend of Twilight at Taronga 2017 presented by ANZ, both Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons and The Sports are set to grace the Taronga stage for two lively performances under the stars, overlooking Sydney Harbour.
Jo Jo Zep & The Falcons made their mark on the Australian music landscape with their unique blend of rock ‘n’ roll, soulful sax and reggae rhythms. The seminal band has performed only a handful of times since their zenith, so this Twilight performance offers a rare opportunity to witness the classic line-up of Joe Camilleri (aka Jo Jo Zep), Jeff Burstin, Tony Faehse, John Power, Wilbur Wilde and Gary Young performing together.
Melburnian new-wave-meets-pub-rock group The Sports launched their career in 1978, spawning 13 singles in four years, including the hits ‘Strangers on a Train’, ‘Who Listens to the Radio’ and ‘Don’t Throw Stones’. The band had four albums reach the Top 40, and their acclaimed sophomore releaseDon’t Throw Stones (1979) was ranked #51 in the 2010 book 100 Best Australian Albums. Their Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ performance will mark The Sports’ first Sydney show in 30 years.

Friday 3 February – THE RUBENS supported by Bec Sandridge
In 2017 The Rubens will make their Twilight at Taronga presented by ANZ debut, supported by Bec Sandridge, for a night set against the picturesque sunset backdrop of Sydney Harbour.
Formed in NSW by brothers Zaac, Sam and Elliott Margin together with friends Scott Baldwin and William Zeglies, over the past five years The Rubens have grown from an outer-suburban indie-rock band to a bona fide force-to-be-reckoned-with. Their sophomore album Hoops (2015), a record which The Music detailed as “crammed with gritty guitars, foot-stomping rhythms and Sam Margin's signature bluesy vocals that ooze country town swag,” debuted at #2 on the ARIA chart first week, with the band subsequently selling out every show on their album tour. After a summer of festival slots and further sold out shows, their lead single, also called ‘Hoops’, scored the top spot on the 2016 triple j Hottest 100, kicking the single into Platinum status.
Joining them on the Twilight stage is Bec Sandridge – the Sydney-via-Glasgow pop/punk off-beat guitarist. Her latest single ‘You’re A F*cking Joke’ was labelled “strikingly anthemic” by Rolling Stone and has received critical acclaim from media all over the country.

SUNG BY VIKA BULL & DEBRA BYRN
On the 45th anniversary of one of the best-selling albums of all time, Carole King’s pop masterpiece, Tapestry was celebrated by two of Australia’s most loved vocalists in three sold out shows at the Arts Centre, Melbourne in August 2016. Iconic performers Vika Bull and Debra Byrne along with The Brill Band, featuring some of Australia’s finest musicians, reimagined the songs of the “most successful and revered female songwriter in pop music history”.
Released in 1971, Tapestry was No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart for 15 weeks with over 25 million copies sold worldwide. It is considered was one of the most important pop albums of the 20th century producing the mega hits “I Feel the Earth Move”, “You’ve Got A Friend”, “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman”, “It’s Too Late” and “Will You Love Me Tomorrow.’
This album forms the centrepiece of the Tapestry concert created by the producer/director of the smash hit At Last: The Etta James Story. Both performers have been inspired by the work of Carole King and the Tapestry album. “A true singer songwriter Carole King doesn’t write to get on the radio she writes because it is all coming from her heart. That is why I love her,” says Debra Byrne.
For 25 years, the glorious voice of Vika Bull, has comprised one of the most distinctive, versatile and emotionally charged sounds on the Australian music landscape. Since a multi-platinum conquest of pop radio with the Black Sorrows in the late 1980s, Vika Bull has forged a diverse pathway into soul, gospel, blues, country and the island music of her Tongan ancestry. Her rich solo vocals and instinctive harmonies have spawned eight albums with her sister Linda, as well as studio and concert performances by Paul Kelly, Renee Geyer, John Farnham, Hunters & Collectors, Tim Finn, Kasey Chambers, John Butler and Dan Sultan. Since 2013 Vika has been performing to packed houses in theatres around Australia in the smash hit concert At Last – The Etta James Story.
Like Vika, Debra Byrne is an Australian music icon. At age 14 she was chosen as one of six original team members of Young Talent Time. By the time Debra was 16 she had won a Logie and the Queen of Pop award and had a single at number one for seven weeks. In the 80s she found her true home of musical theatre with roles in Cats, Jerry’s Girls, Les Miserables, Hot Shoe Shuffle and Sunset Boulevard. She has recorded three solo albums and starred in many Australian television series, most recently as Judy Moran in Fat Tony and Co.
“Melbourne’s vibrant and healthy live music scene means the people of the city are spoilt with many great and unique performances. ‘Tapestry: The Songs of Carole King’ is a show that will translate to any city around the country if Vika and Debra chose to do so.” – Paul Cashmere, Noise 11.
“Tapestry: The Songs of Carole King was a well-curated homage to Carole King at the Playhouse Theatre at Arts Centre Melbourne. Vika Bull and Debra Byrne gave an intimate and personable performance covered not just the well-known hits such as ‘You’ve Got a Friend’ and ‘I Feel the Earth Move’, but also shared vignettes of Carole King’s life. It was also an introduction to songs that many would not have known Carole King wrote, such as ‘The Loco-Motion’ and ‘Will You Love Me Tomorrow’, made famous by The Shirelles.” – Emmanuella, The Plus Ones.
The Living End Bring Tour to Newcastle
Aussie legends, The Living End are headed to The Cambridge Hotel on Friday, March 10 2017 as part of their Staring Down The Highway Tour.

There is no rest in sight, the band are set to roll on into 2017 hitting regional areas of Australia for their Staring Down The Highway Tour, starting in March.
